It’s 2013! What could be more New Year-ish than singing Auld Lang Syne? Maybe you had a bit of a singsong earlier this week. What a cracking tune.
It’s good at the start of a new year to be reminded that although the years come and go, and little people like us rise and fall, Christ reigns supreme. He was king in 2012 and nothing has changed in 2013. That’s why we’re starting the new year with a new song called All Glory Be To Christ. It won’t feel very new however since it uses the meoldy of… yep, you guessed it… Auld Lang Syne! While the tune points us to new beginnings, the words point us to our unchanging God over and above all our hopes and plans for this year. Whatever 2013 may bring, we are heading for a wonderful future when we will live with God forever.
It’s a new song which features on Kings Kaleidoscope’s Christmas album, Joy Has Dawned which you listen to and download here. You can watch a video of the song below and get ready to belt it out on Sunday.
Should nothing of our efforts stand, no legacy survive,
unless the Lord does raise the house, in vain its builders strive.
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain, tell me what is your life;
a mist that vanishes at dawn. All glory be to Christ!
All glory be to Christ our king! All glory be to Christ!
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ!
His will be done, His kingdom come, on earth as is above,
who is Himself our daily bread, praise Him the Lord of love.
Let living water satisfy the thirsty without price.
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet. All glory be to Christ!
When on the day the great I Am, the faithful and the true,
the Lamb who was for sinners slain, is making all things new,
behold our God shall live with us and be our steadfast light,
and we shall e’er his people be. All glory be to Christ!
