WELCOME by Rich Adam
SONG
Blessed be your name in the land that is plentiful.
Where your streams of abundance flow,
blessed be your name.
Blessed be your name when I’m found in the desert place.
Though I walk through the wilderness,
blessed be your name.
Every blessing you pour out I’ll
turn back to praise.
When the darkness closes in, Lord,
still I will say…
Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your name.
Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your glorious name.
Blessed be your name when the sun’s shining down on me.
When the world’s ‘all as it should be’,
blessed be your name.
Blessed be your name on the road marked with suffering.
Though there’s pain in the offering,
blessed be your name.
Every blessing…
You give and take away.
You give and take away.
My heart will choose to say,
“Lord, blessed be Your name.”

PRAYERS led by Ruth Strain
ACT OF REMEMBRANCE
We pray together
Almighty and eternal God, from whose love in Christ we cannot be parted, either by death or life: we thank you for those who gave their lives for the sake of others in defence of their country. We thank you that those who die trusting in you will be raised to eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
We will remember them.
We observe a minute’s silence.
We say the Lord’s Prayer together:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours now and for ever.
Amen
SONG
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not.
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow;
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
BIBLE READING
1 Corinthians 6 read by Claire Coleman
6:1 When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! 4 So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, 6 but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers!
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practise homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
12 “All things are lawful for me”, but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me”, but I will not be enslaved by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
SONG
What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to His
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing: all is mine!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Saviour He will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed
To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave
To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released, I can sing: I am free!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
BIBLE TALK by Richard Hopkins
SONG
Oh the mercy of God
the glory of grace, that you chose to redeem us,
to forgive and restore,
and you call us your children, chosen in him
to be holy and blameless to the glory of God.
To the praise of his glorious grace,
to the praise of his glory and power;
to him be all glory, honour and praise
for ever and ever and ever, Amen.
Oh the richness of grace, the depths of his love,
in him is redemption, the forgiveness of sin.
You called us as righteous, predestined in him
for the praise of his glory, included in Christ.
To the praise of his glorious grace…
Oh the glory of God expressed in his Son,
his image and likeness revealed to us all;
the plea of the ages completed in Christ
that we be presented perfected in him.
To the praise of his glorious grace…
SONG
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life.
I once was lost in darkest night
yet thought I knew the way.
The sin that promised joy and life
had led me to the grave.
I had no hope that You would own
a rebel to Your will,
and if You had not loved me first,
I would refuse You still.
But as I ran my hell-bound race,
indifferent to the cost,
You looked upon my helpless state
and led me to the cross.
And I beheld God’s love displayed;
You suffered in my place.
You bore the wrath reserved for me
now all I know is grace!
Hallelujah…
Now Lord I would be Yours alone
and live so all might see
the strength to follow Your commands
could never come from me.
O Father use my ransomed life
in any way You choose,
and let my song forever be
my only boast is You!
Hallelujah…
