We’re not able to meet together as church family today and for the coming weeks. Although, by necessity, we have to stay apart physically, we’re standing together to love, support and encourage one another. So, in around 90 different homes, we’ll sing the same songs, pray the same prayers and look together at God’s word to us, as we look to Matthew 17:1-8. There are some activities for those aged 14 or under to do and a bible talk from Richard for us to listen to.
For each person in your home, you’ll need a copy of this service sheet, a bible, print outs of the children’s sheets (if needed) and your computer or tablet to click on the links below. Please note that the songs are being played from YouTube, if one of the annoying adverts pop up, click on the ‘skip ad’ button.

All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing:
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou, burning sun with golden beam,
Thou, silver moon with softer gleam:
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness.
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three-in-One.
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
All the redeemed washed by His blood,
Come and rejoice in His great love.
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Christ has defeated every sin,
Cast all your burdens now on Him.
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
He shall return in power to reign.
Heaven and earth will join to say:
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Then who shall fall on bended knee?
All creatures of our God and King.
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

There is no other name
In heaven can be found
Through whom we are redeemed,
Through whom your grace abounds.
No other name can save,
But Jesus Christ our Lord. x2
My joy in sorrowʼs tears,
My strength to cast out fears:
No other name but Jesus, Jesus.
My hope in darkest night,
My broken soulʼs delight:
No other name but Jesus, Jesus.
There is no victory,
But Jesus crucified.
No other cure for sin,
But that our Saviour died.
No other hope we have:
But that he rose again! He rose again!
My joy in sorrowʼs tears,
My strength to cast out fears:
No other name but Jesus, Jesus.
My hope in darkest night,
My broken soulʼs delight:
No other name but Jesus, Jesus.
No other throne endures.
No other song remains.
But ʻWorthy is the Lamb
Who was for sinners slain’.
When every knee shall bow
And tongue confess you are Lord,
You are Lord!
My joy in sorrowʼs tears,
My strength to cast out fears:
No other name but Jesus, Jesus.
My hope in darkest night,
My broken soulʼs delight:
No other name but Jesus, Jesus.

BIBLE READING – 2 Peter 1:16-19
Later in our service, we’ll be looking at an extraordinary event in the life of Jesus. The apostle Peter, as an old man, looks back to that event:
16 We did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eye-witnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honour and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’ 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Our next song is an invitation to come to Jesus. We’ll use it as a prayer before we read from the bible and think about what it means.

Come, you weary heart, now to Jesus.
Come, you anxious soul, now and see:
There is perfect love and comfort in your tears.
Rest here in His wondrous peace.
Oh, the goodness, the goodness of Jesus:
Satisfied he is all that I need.
May it be, come what may,
That I rest all my days in the goodness of Jesus.
Come, find what this world cannot offer.
Come and find your joy here complete.
Taste the living water, never thirst again.
Rest here in His wondrous peace.
Oh, the goodness, the goodness of Jesus:
Satisfied he is all that I need.
May it be, come what may,
That I rest all my days in the goodness of Jesus.
Come and find your hope now in Jesus;
He is all He said He would be.
Grace is overflowing from the Saviour’s heart,
Rest here in His wondrous peace.
Oh, the goodness, the goodness of Jesus:
Satisfied he is all that I need.
May it be, come what may,
That I rest all my days in the goodness of Jesus.

BIBLE READING
Matthew 17:1-8
17:1 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.
3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.
4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.”
8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
BIBLE TALK
The glory of the cross
Talk outline:
Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16)
“From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, an on the third day be raised” (Matthew 16:21)
1. Have you grasped who Jesus is?
2. Are you listening to Jesus?
Our closing song praises Jesus for who he is and for his death and resurrection.
SONG – listen by clicking here
Jesus is Lord –
the cry that echoes through creation;
resplendent power, eternal Word, our Rock.
The Son of God,
the King whose glory fills the heavens,
yet bids us come to taste this living Bread.
Jesus is Lord –
whose voice sustains the stars and planets,
yet in His wisdom laid aside His crown.
Jesus the Man,
who washed our feet, who bore our suffering:
became a curse to bring salvation’s plan.
Jesus is Lord –
the tomb is gloriously empty!
Not even death could crush this King of love!
The price is paid,
the chains are loosed, and we’re forgiven,
and we can run into the arms of God.
‘Jesus is Lord’ –
a shout of joy, a cry of anguish,
as He returns,
and every knee bows low.
Then every eye and every heart will see His glory,
the Judge of all will take His children home.
