SONG
We won’t fear the battle, we won’t fear the night
We will walk the valley with You by our side
You will go before us, You will lead the way
We have found a refuge, only You can save
Sing with joy now, our God is for us
The Father’s love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now, no love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us
Even when I stumble, even when I fall
Even when I turn back, still Your love is sure
You will not abandon, will not forsake
You will cheer me onward with never-ending grace You
Sing with joy now…
Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us
He who gave His son to free us
Holds me in His love (repeat)
Sing with joy now…
WELCOME
SONG
Blessed be your name in the land that is plentiful.
Where your streams of abundance flow, blessed be your name.
Blessed be your name when I’m found in the desert place.
Though I walk through the wilderness, blessed be your name.
Every blessing you pour out I’ll
turn back to praise.
When the darkness closes in, Lord,
still I will say…
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
blessed be your name.
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
blessed be your glorious name.
Blessed be your name when the sun’s shining down on me.
When the world’s ‘all as it should be’, blessed be your name.
Blessed be your name on the road marked with suffering.
Though there’s pain in the offering, blessed be your name.
Every blessing…
You give and take away. You give and take away.
My heart will choose to say, “Lord, blessed be Your name.”

READING from Psalm 2
Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD and against his anointed, saying
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the LORD holds them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
I will tell of the decree: the LORD said to me,
“You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry,
and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
PRAYERS
SONG
There is strength within the sorrow,
There is beauty in our tears.
And You meet us in our mourning,
With a love that casts out fear.
You are working in our waiting –
You’re sanctifying us;
When beyond our understanding
You’re teaching us to trust.
Your plans are still to prosper,
You have not forgotten us.
You’re with us in the fire and the flood.
You’re faithful forever, perfect in love,
You are sovereign over us.
You are wisdom unimagined,
Who could understand Your ways?
Reigning high above the Heavens,
Reaching down in endless grace.
You’re the lifter of the lowly,
Compassionate and kind;
You surround and You uphold me,
And Your promises are my delight.
Even what the enemy means for evil,
You turn it for our good;
You turn it for our good and for Your glory.
Even in the valley, You are faithful,
You’re working for our good;
You’re working for our good and for Your glory.
(repeat)
Your plans are still…
BIBLE READING
Exodus 1:1-2:11
1 These are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob, each with his household: 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, 3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, 4 Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. 5 All the descendants of Jacob were seventy persons; Joseph was already in Egypt. 6 Then Joseph died, and all his brothers and all that generation. 7 But the people of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly; they multiplied and grew exceedingly strong, so that the land was filled with them.
8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9 And he said to his people, “Behold, the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. 10 Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war breaks out, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.” 11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. They built for Pharaoh store cities, Pithom and Raamses. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And the Egyptians were in dread of the people of Israel. 13 So they ruthlessly made the people of Israel work as slaves 14 and made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and brick, and in all kinds of work in the field. In all their work they ruthlessly made them work as slaves.
15 Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other Puah, 16 “When you serve as midwife to the Hebrew women and see them on the birthstool, if it is a son, you shall kill him, but if it is a daughter, she shall live.” 17 But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the male children live. 18 So the king of Egypt called the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this, and let the male children live?” 19 The midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.” 20 So God dealt well with the midwives. And the people multiplied and grew very strong. 21 And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families. 22 Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, “Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live.”
1 Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. 3 When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. 4 And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. 5 Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it. 6 When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.” 7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” 8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother. 9 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. 10 When the child grew up, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, “Because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”
11 One day, when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and looked on their burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.
BIBLE TALK
SONGS
Who, O Lord, could save themselves?
their own soul could heal?
Our shame was deeper than the sea;
your grace is deeper still.
And you alone can rescue,
you alone can save.
You alone can lift us from the grave.
You came down to find us,
led us out of death:
to you alone belongs the highest praise.
You, O Lord, have made a way,
the great divide you healed,
for when our hearts were far away,
your love went further still.
Yes, your love went further still.
We lift up our eyes, we lift up our eyes:
You’re the giver of life!
(repeat)
