ACCLAMATION

Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed. Hallelujah!

SONG

Death could not hold You, the veil tore before You.
You silenced the boast of sin and grave.
The heavens are roaring The praise of Your glory,
for You are raised to life again.
You have no rival You have no equal now and forever God You reign
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory.
Yours is the name above all names!

What a powerful name it is, what a powerful name it is
The name of Jesus Christ, my king.
What a powerful name it is, nothing can stand against!
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus

You were the Word at the beginning; One with God the Lord most high.
Your hidden glory in creation, Now revealed in You our Christ.

What a beautiful name it is, what a beautiful name it is
The name of Jesus Christ, my king.
What a beautiful name it is, nothing compares to this.
What a beautiful name it is, the name of Jesus

It was for Your sake that You came down
For the sake of Your good name.
Our sin was great Your love was greater
What could separate us now?

What a wonderful name it is…

Death could not hold You,
the veil tore before You.
You silenced the boast of sin and grave.
The heavens are roaring
The praise of Your glory,
for You are raised to life again.

You have no rival
You have no equal
now and forever God You reign
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory.
Yours is the name above all names!

What a powerful name it is,
what a powerful name it is
The name of Jesus Christ, my king.
What a powerful name it is
Nothing can stand against!
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus

ACTIVITY…

SONG

Jesus is the King, ruler over everything
Jesus is the one, promised one the Son of God
Jesus is the Lord, he’s the one you can’t ignore
Jesus, Jesus, he is the King.  He is the King

He commanded the fisherman: Hey come follow me
And they did and they did and they did because

He commanded the evil ones: Hey come out of him
And they did and they did and they did because

He commanded the wind and waves: Hey be still be still
And they did and they did and they did because

He promised that three days after death He’d rise again
And He did and He did and He did because

BIBLE READING

Matthew 28:1-10 (Easy To Read Version)

1 The day after the Sabbath day was the first day of the week. That day at dawn Mary Magdalene and the other woman named Mary went to look at the tomb.

Suddenly an angel of the Lord came from the sky, and there was a huge earthquake. The angel went to the tomb and rolled the stone away from the entrance. Then he sat on top of the stone. The angel was shining as bright as lightning. His clothes were as white as snow. The soldiers guarding the tomb were very afraid of the angel. They shook with fear and then became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus, the one who was killed on the cross. But he is not here. He has risen from death, as he said he would. Come and see the place where his body was. And go quickly and tell his followers, ‘Jesus has risen from death. He is going into Galilee and will be there before you. You will see him there.’” Then the angel said, “Now I have told you.”

So the women left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran to tell his followers what happened. Suddenly, Jesus was there in front of them. He said, “Hello!” The women went to him and, holding on to his feet, worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go tell my followers to go to Galilee. They will see me there.”

BIBLE TALK

SONG

I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet.
My Saviour on that cursed tree

His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone.

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King!

He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face.

PRAYERS

Lord Jesus please help us not to fear,
May we rejoice that you are risen.

SONGS

In Christ alone my hope is found,
he is my light, my strength, my song;
this cornerstone, this solid ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all.
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone who took on flesh,
fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
scorned by the ones he came to save:
till on that cross as Jesus died,
the wrath of God was satisfied –
for every sin on him was laid;
here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground his body lay,
light of the world by darkness slain:
then bursting forth in glorious day
up from the grave He rose again!
And as he stands in victory
sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
for I am His and he is mine –
bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
this is the power of Christ in me;
from life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
can ever pluck me from his hand;
till He returns or calls me home
here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son.
Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son.
Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.

Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom.
Let the church with gladness hymns of triumph sing,
for her Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting.

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of Life;
life is nought without thee: aid us in our strife.
Make us more than conquerors
through thy deathless love;
bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.
